Question 1

What is the CBX pet crossing service?

Accepted Answer

CBX Pet Care provides a full-service pet border crossing solution between San Diego and Tijuana. We handle all documentation, health certificates, and transportation so your pet crosses the US-Mexico border safely and legally through the Cross Border Xpress (CBX) terminal area.

Question 2

What documents are needed for pets crossing the US-Mexico border?

Accepted Answer

Pets entering Mexico need a current rabies vaccination certificate and a health certificate issued by a USDA-accredited veterinarian within 10 days of travel. Returning to the US requires a valid rabies certificate. CBX Pet Care coordinates all paperwork and vet visits for you.

Question 3

What pet vaccinations are required to cross into Mexico?

Accepted Answer

Mexico requires a current rabies vaccination administered at least 30 days but no more than 12 months before entry. We recommend all core vaccines be up to date including distemper, parvovirus, and bordetella. CBX Pet Care works with licensed veterinarians to ensure your pet meets all requirements.

Question 4

How much does the CBX pet border crossing service cost?

Accepted Answer

Pricing depends on the size of your pet and the services needed. Our basic crossing package includes document coordination, transport, and border assistance. Contact us for a personalized quote based on your pet and travel needs.

Question 5

Are there quarantine requirements for pets crossing the border?

Accepted Answer

There is no quarantine for pets entering Mexico with proper documentation. For re-entry to the US, dogs must have a valid rabies certificate. The CDC updated requirements in 2024, and CBX Pet Care stays current with all regulations to ensure a smooth crossing with no quarantine delays.

Question 6

Do I need an airline-approved carrier for the border crossing?

Accepted Answer

Yes, we require a secure, well-ventilated carrier appropriate for your pet size. Airline-approved hard-sided carriers are recommended for safety during transport. If you do not have one, CBX Pet Care can provide a suitable carrier as part of your service package.

Question 7

Where are the CBX Pet Care meeting points?

Accepted Answer

We offer two convenient meeting locations. North pickup is at Walmart Supercenter, 1200 Highland Ave, National City CA 91950. South pickup is at Walmart Supercenter, 75 Broadway, Chula Vista CA 91910. Both locations offer easy parking and are close to the border.

Question 8

Accepted Answer

Question 9

What health certificates does my pet need to cross the border for vet care?

Accepted Answer

Question 10

How long does the whole process take?

Accepted Answer

Most procedures are same-day. A typical visit takes 4-8 hours including transport, procedure, and recovery. Complex surgeries may require an overnight stay at the clinic.

Question 11

Do you transport my pet or do I go with them?

Accepted Answer

Both options are available. Most owners prefer to accompany their pet with our guided transport service. We also offer drop-off service for owners who cannot make the trip.
