Question 1

What is the CBX pet crossing service?

CBX Pet Care provides a full-service pet border crossing solution between San Diego and Tijuana. We handle all documentation, health certificates, and transportation so your pet crosses the US-Mexico border safely and legally through the Cross Border Xpress (CBX) terminal area.

Question 2

What documents are needed for pets crossing the US-Mexico border?

Accepted Answer

Pets entering Mexico need a current rabies vaccination certificate and a health certificate issued by a USDA-accredited veterinarian within 10 days of travel. Returning to the US requires a valid rabies certificate. CBX Pet Care coordinates all paperwork and vet visits for you.

Question 3

What pet vaccinations are required to cross into Mexico?

Accepted Answer

Mexico requires a current rabies vaccination administered at least 30 days but no more than 12 months before entry. We recommend all core vaccines be up to date including distemper, parvovirus, and bordetella. CBX Pet Care works with licensed veterinarians to ensure your pet meets all requirements.

Question 4

How much does the CBX pet border crossing service cost?

Accepted Answer

Pricing depends on the size of your pet and the services needed. Our basic crossing package includes document coordination, transport, and border assistance. Contact us for a personalized quote based on your pet and travel needs.

Question 5

Are there quarantine requirements for pets crossing the border?

Accepted Answer

There is no quarantine for pets entering Mexico with proper documentation. For re-entry to the US, dogs must have a valid rabies certificate. The CDC updated requirements in 2024, and CBX Pet Care stays current with all regulations to ensure a smooth crossing with no quarantine delays.

Question 6

Do I need an airline-approved carrier for the border crossing?

Accepted Answer

Yes, we require a secure, well-ventilated carrier appropriate for your pet size. Airline-approved hard-sided carriers are recommended for safety during transport. If you do not have one, CBX Pet Care can provide a suitable carrier as part of your service package.
